Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
St. Joseph's Medical Clinic has been serving the Waukesha County community since 1977 in providing free healthcare and referral services for uninsured and underserved families and individuals.
What is your primary product or service?
Healthcare services including exams, lab, treatment plan, prescription medications, and specialty provider visits.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I have been working with free and charitable clinics since 2009 and serve as Vice President of the Board of Directors with the Wisconsin Association of Free and Charitable Clinics [St. Joseph's Medical Clinic is a member agency]. Since the 1960's, free clinics have diligently built their resource capacity to address the current medical [and often times dental care] needs within our local communities. We recognize that there are community residents who are struggling to afford and manage their basic necessities. The changing and evolving healthcare environment enable free clinics to have the ability to adapt to shifting local healthcare needs.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are a non-profit clinic serving uninsured and low-income residents of Waukesha County.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are currently located within the same structure as St. Joseph's Catholic Church though we are separate entities. We have a secondary clinic location on Monday nights at the Waukesha Family Practice Center, located in the Barstow building in downtown Waukesha.
Provide detailed directions to your location
We are located at the intersection of Arcadian and East Avenue.
What type of payments do you accept?
Initial services are provided at no charge though we strongly encourage a donation. Subsequent and referral services may be based on a sliding fee scale.
Which areas do you service?
We provide healthcare services for all of Waukesha County.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
We are a non-profit agency that is funded by private donations and United Way.
What are your hours of operation?
Office hours: M-F 9a-4p. Patients are seen by appointment during separate clinic hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and some specialty clinics on Fridays.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
That we helped someone who would otherwise have gone without care.
